Savannah is a port and logistics market that has grown very fast. The container terminal drives an enormous amount of warehousing and distribution around it, and a great deal of that building stock is new, large, and being commissioned on a tight schedule.
Port-driven logistics is the defining work
Distribution buildings around Pooler, Garden City and the Highway 21 corridor are big-box: long dock lines, large yards, trailer parking, and gates that need plate capture and driver identification rather than a camera pointed vaguely at the entrance.
On a new distribution building the security scope is decided in the construction programme. Conduit, backboxes, pathways and door prep have to be in before the slab and the walls close — miss that window and everything afterwards is surface-mounted compromise.
Yard and trailer coverage is the part most often under-specified. A camera that proves a trailer was there is not the same as one that proves who moved it.
The rest of the Savannah market
Manufacturing in the wider region — including the large automotive investment in Bryan County — brings contractor access at scale during build-out, then a completely different steady-state requirement afterwards.
Hospitality and the historic district is a different discipline entirely: protected buildings, limits on what can be mounted and where cable can run, and a guest experience that should not feel policed. Planning around what is permitted is part of the design, not an afterthought.
Coastal exposure — salt air, humidity and storm risk — shortens the life of anything under-specified outdoors, and head-end equipment placement should account for flooding.
