Series and station architecture
Select IX, IXG, JO or another family from entrance count, tenant or department count, answering locations, mobile needs, paging, emergency use and integrations. Record every door, master station, guard position, app user and call destination. Expansion limits and licenses needs to be checked for the current system release.
Choose surface, flush, vandal-resistant, weather-resistant and accessibility options for the opening. Camera height, lighting, background noise, reach range and signage affect usability. Emergency stations need visibility, intelligibility and a monitored response process, not only a call button.

Network, PoE and SIP dependencies
Coordinate switch ports, PoE class, VLANs, addressing, DHCP or static reservations, DNS, NTP, multicast and required cloud or SIP connectivity. Voice and video quality depend on local network health and uplink capacity. Document firewall rules with the client rather than broadly opening ports.
If integrating with a PBX, SIP server, VMS or access platform, verify exact supported functions and licenses. Decide which system owns directory names, schedules and call forwarding. Time synchronization is essential when intercom video and door events are investigated together.

Door release and operational workflow
Door release wiring must match lock voltage, current, relay rating, fail mode and emergency requirements. Use an interface or power supply where the station relay needs to not switch the lock load directly. Protect relay wiring from compromise at exterior stations.
Define who may release each door, whether visual verification is required, what happens after no answer and how calls are recorded or logged. Mobile answering needs account ownership, notification testing and a procedure for lost phones and departing staff.

Programming, acceptance and support
Build and back up the supported configuration, station directory, IP schedule and firmware baseline. Test calls, audio, video, directory search, forwarding, door release, offline states, power loss and recovery at each entrance. Measure intelligibility in normal ambient noise.
