Aiphone IX and IXG IP Intercom System Engineering
Commercial and multi-tenant communication is well within reach of Aiphone IX and IXG hardware. What the property still has to settle is call routing, network services, door release and who carries operator responsibility.
Every call needs an answering path that holds
Failure behavior matters as much as normal use: list entrances, users, answering stations, mobile or cloud access, escalation, video verification and release permission.
Choosing series and stations
Select IX, IXG, JO or another family from entrance count, tenant or department count, answering locations, mobile needs, paging, emergency use and integrations. Record every door, master station, guard position, app user and call destination. Expansion limits and licenses needs to be checked for the current system release.
The opening dictates the station: surface or flush, vandal-resistant, weather-resistant, plus applicable accessibility options. Usability turns on camera height, lighting, background noise, reach range and signage. An emergency station is not finished at the call button; it must also be visible, intelligible and backed by a monitored response.

Network, PoE and SIP groundwork
Voice and video quality follow local network health and uplink capacity, which makes the network list long: switch ports, PoE class, VLANs, addressing, DHCP reservations or static assignments, DNS, NTP, multicast and the cloud or SIP connectivity the design requires. Firewall rules get documented with the client instead of opening ports broadly.
Ownership questions come first with a PBX, SIP server, VMS or access platform: which system holds directory names, which holds schedules, which handles call forwarding. Supported functions and licenses get confirmed exactly rather than assumed. Clocks need to agree across systems, because intercom video and door events are reviewed side by side.

Releasing the door, and who decides
Door release wiring must match lock voltage, current, relay rating, fail mode and emergency requirements. Use an interface or power supply where the station relay needs to not switch the lock load directly. Protect relay wiring from compromise at exterior stations.
Each door gets an answer to four questions: who may release it, whether the caller must be seen first, what follows an unanswered call, and how calls are recorded or logged. Mobile answering adds account ownership, tested notifications and a procedure for lost handsets and departing staff.

Configuration, testing and ongoing support
Nothing leaves the site without a backed-up copy of the supported configuration, station directory, IP schedule and firmware baseline. At every entrance, run calls, audio, video, directory search, forwarding, door release, offline states, power loss and recovery. Intelligibility gets measured in the site’s normal ambient noise.
Software, firmware, diagrams and manuals come from Aiphone’s official knowledge base, and firmware is not stored on our site. Operator instructions and protected configuration records go to the client apart from anything published for marketing.

Supported IX system engineerings can use peer-to-peer communication; PBX integration is optional for defined workflows.
Will the station switch an electric lock on its own?
Only when the electrical load and security system engineering fit the supported relay; an interface is often appropriate.
Do all series support answering on a phone?
The answer depends on the product, app, cloud service and region; confirm against the current system.
Where needs to Aiphone support software be obtained?
Aiphone’s own knowledge base and product support resources are the source.
Software, firmware and technical files stay where the manufacturer publishes them. KSEDCO does not keep local copies of firmware.
